Dr. Sarmast Speaks at WOMEX 2022 Conference
On October 20, ANIM Founder Dr. Sarmast speaks at the 2022 WOMEX Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. WOMEX – Worldwide Music Expo – is the most international and culturally diverse music meeting in the world and the biggest conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and showcase concerts.
Dr. Sarmast joins director of PEN America's Artists at Risk Connection, Julie Trebault, and music ethnologist Mirwaiss Sidiqi to discuss the music community’s role in cross-border solidarity and emergency and relocation measures, as well as the innovative ways to preserve Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage.
