From January 10th-20th, ANIM rubab faculty member Ustad Rameen traveled with students Samimullah Rafiqzada (tabla) and Ali Zmarai (violin) to the Tumaini University Makumira – Tanzania as part of the 2013 GLOMUS Camp. The organization GLOMUS is an international network for higher education in Global Music and related arts, founded by three Nordic higher education academies of music. The GLOMUS network aims to develop collaborative projects to enhance intercultural communication, knowledge sharing, capacity building and organizational development, musical interaction for mutual inspiration and innovation. This camp combines several GLOMUS core activities and bringing together participants from different countries, musical backgrounds and traditions, the biannual Camps are the flagship activities of the network and have taken place in Mozambique and Ghana in previous years. ANIM’s participants performed in concerts, attended classes, visited villages to become familiar with local village life and music, and went on an animal safari.
In 2010, ANIM became an official member of the GLOMUS international network and is extremely pleased to have this privileged position.
